Part 4 – Basic Fine Tuning and Importing a Template

1.  Login to your Bluehost account. You must see the dashboard or opening page.

2.  Click on WordPressWordPress button  The WordPress dashboard is opened in a new tab of your browser (I use Google Chrome).

2.   Click on Settings on the column on the left and from the menu click on General.

3.  Scroll down to where you find the Site Title and Tagline fields. Fill them.

4.  Choose the Timezone and set the Date Format and Time Format fields according to your convenience.

5.   Click Save Changes  Save Changes button  when done, located at the bottom of the webpage.

6.   Click Permalinks from the Settings menu on the left (just as you selected General earlier). The webpage refreshes to display a new page.

7.   Scroll down the page till you get to these radio buttons.

8.  Select the Post name radio button.

Note:  This means that all your posts will have the title of the post in the URL of that post.

9.  Select Themes from the Apperance menu on the left.

10.  Scroll down the page to view a standard list of themes that you can apply to your website.

Note: We will use a free theme for now. I’ll explain using a premium theme later. Every year WordPress releases a theme corresponding to the year and so we’ll use the Twenty Twenty theme located as shown below. 

 

 Documentation will be up soon if you are interested in installing a paid theme as I have used on my websites (I have used Divi).

11.  Hover mouse on the tile that reads Twenty Twenty and click Install. The theme is installed and the tile now displays it is so.

12.  Click on Customize to tweak the template to suit our website or blog.
