5.   Enter a piece of text. Since I am relaunching an old website I have the following content inserted. You could tweak my content to suit your post.

first post text

Note:  As the text is written note a control that floats above the text giving the user options to make text bold, italics, add hyperlinks etc.,  I select the words “Learn Technical Writing Fast” and click on the “B” of the control and now my text is made bold.

6.   Click Publish to publish the post.

7.   Click Publish again when a confirmation is asked.  The post publish details are displayed.

8.   Click the link “Hello World” to preview the publishied post in a new tab of your browser.

Note:  Notice the Preview link just above the Hello World link. You can use this link to test how your post would look while creating the post and the preview happens in a new tab of your browser.

9.   Scroll down the page to see other contents of the page.

Note:   A couple of things on the page needs to be set right, for instance the “UNCATEGORIZED” doesn’t look elegant. Let us create a category “News” for this. Also on scrolling down the page you notice another Hello World! post. This was provided by WordPress as a sample. Let’s learn to delete that post too. And let’s add an exclamation to the “Hello World” title too.

10.  Edit the post by simply going back to the tab where you started creating the post.

11.  Append the exclamation mark “!” to the title “Hello World”.

12.  Click on Document on the right panel of the post.

The News category is created and the Hello World! post automatically assigned to this category.
