(or)

I guess you want to go with choice 1. So here goes….
Part 1 – Buying your Domain Name and Hosting Service
The first step in building your website or blog is to buy a Domain Name and Web hosting.
To give you an analogy, think of Domain Name as the name of your house or your own name or the name of your business. Hosting refers to the physical space you occupy or the space your house or your business actually occupies. The reason you need a Domain Name and Hosting is because just like your business and the premises it occupies you need to stand out from the crowd. You can create a blog or website on a number of free services but they are only “free” and not entirely your’s. Just imagine what would happen it they close their services. Gone is your website and blog! That is precisely what happened to Tens and Thousands of RJ’s on Radionomy just last year. Radionomy simply wound up their website. I worked for more than 6 months on my radio channel and it lasted just 1.5 months on the internet, before it went down.
The Domain name is the name of your website or in tech terms the URL (e.g www.subashsl.com is the domain name of my personal blog). Similarly your blog or website needs to have a domain name. Also “.com” domain is normally used for commercial or “commerce” related sites. You could have a country specific domain as www.designsat114.in where the “.in” refers to the country, India. Similarly “.org” indicates “organization” as in the domain name www.kaikoduppom.org. Your domain name can be the name of your business, profession, your own name etc., We’ll see in a moment how we can purchase such a domain.
Along with the Domain Name you will need web hosting too. Hosting services provide space online for your website or blog. Depending on how fast you grow hosting services can be upgraded to accomodate your site or blog.
I have been blogging since 2005, my old blog still exists on blogger at https://subashsworld.blogspot.com When I moved to my own domain, WordPress was naturally the choice.
1. Since 2016 I have my own domain and the three other sites I built, all hosted on Bluehost and I gladly recommend to you the same. There are several reasons why I recommend Bluehost. Buehost is one of the best WordPress hosts there is. In all these years there was hardly any downtime and my sites were always up and running. Note: – The Bluehost India site (bluehost.in) is only a Franchise site, I am not sure if they offer the same services the U.S company offers. So make sure you click my Bluehost link (not to worry, it is copied in the next section) to get to their site.
2. Service is tops. Once you have an account with them, they are there 24/7 to answer questions. You can chat with them at 1:00 AM too!
3. Great offers. Web Hosting starts at $2.65 per month (if you take it for 3 yrs) during the Black Friday Sale. Other times the Basic package is $3.99 per month if you take it for 3 years, which is a great deal. Domain Name is free for the first year. But the best part, if you stick with them longer they even waive the Domain Name fee (it has happened once with one of my sites). Also after the initial sign-up offer (1, 2, or 3 years) they will still give you the same offer for renewal if you stick with them. Awesome Deal!
Note: If you missed the Black Friday sale, not to worry. I’ll show you a trick how you can still get the Black Friday price in the next topic.
4. The SSL Certificate, which means better security on your site. Basically your site will be https://yoursitename instead of http://yoursitename and your site will no be flagged as insecure. Surprisingly this certificate is automatically renewed at no charge every year. Isn’t that Fantastic!
